Can you believe there are only 5 days until Christmas?! Here's a cute, quick little ornament I put together. I saw something like it while I was out shopping the other day (at Marshall's maybe? I don't remember exactly where) and instantly thought it was something I could easily duplicate...and I already had the supplies on hand. So, during naptime (a very, very short naptime, mind you) I was able to put this little cutie together.
Sheet music...I'm still using the hymnal I bought last year for a $1 at the thrift store
Round 1" beads...I bought mine last year at Michaels for a couple dollars.
Craft felt or fleece
white ribbon or something for emellishments
pompoms
Scrapbook paper
Silver pipecleaners
Hot glue
Glitter
I started by tearing a piece of music in half. Then I used accordian folds..I tried to keep mine to 1/2" folds.
Then you'll want to glue the two pieces together to form a circle. Gather the top of the paper and hot glue the top to form a cone.
Then you'll want to draw the face on your wooden bead and hot glue that to the top of the paper cone.
Cut your felt to make a scarf and embellish however you'd like. For her hat, I cut out a circle and sewed it together and hot glued the pompom and ribbon on. I always choose glue over sewing...so much easier! I forgot to get a good picture of that step..sorry. Glue some arms on her..mine were 2" silver pipe cleaners. For her book, I actually used the cardboard backing that the beads came on. It was the perfect color green and just the weight I needed. If I wasn't so inpatient rushed I would have looked around for something else, but that's what I had on hand. I cut a couple rectangles out and folded them in half to form the book. Make sure when you are hot gluing the book to her hands you put it right side up!! Another problem with being inpatient rushed, is not always paying attention to detail! Finally, I added a little silver glitter to the bottom of her skirt for a little extra pizazz and hot glued a loop to the back of her hat for a hanger. I plan on making a set of these little carolers. One red, one green and one blue. But, not until next naptime! Feel free to ask if you have any questions :)
