Well, the snow is (finally!) steadily falling and I would love nothing more than to cozy up to a fire crackling in the fireplace, snuggle up with a good book and sip a cup of hot tea. Unfortunately, I'm missing the main part of that cozy little thought. I don't have a fireplace. It's something I've always wanted, but for the time being it's just not practical to add one in any capacity to our rental. So, decorating the top of my hutch and lighting the candles around the living room will have to suffice. I daydream about the day we are house hunting for our next home and walk into our dream home to find a grand fireplace with a gorgeous mantel. That would be the cherry on my banana split. All in good time I tell myself.
So, here are a few pictures of my winter "mantel".. I wasn't totally untruthful when I said I wasn't ready to put away all the Christmas things, so I did put some white lights behind the evergreen to add some back light an and shopped the house for wintery looking things to add. Thanks for stopping by and stay warm!

I love the snowflake as the center focal point and all of the care you took to add visual interest and layering to your mantel. Looks fab! Thanks for linking up!
